Linux Command AI (“the extension”) is a Google Chrome extension that
converts natural-language instructions into Linux terminal commands
inside browser-based SSH consoles (Google Cloud, AWS, DigitalOcean).
This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.

1. Summary

• The developer of Linux Command AI does not operate any server that
  receives, stores, or has access to your data.
• The extension does not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone.
• The extension does not display ads and does not use analytics or
  tracking of any kind.
• By default, all AI processing happens on your own device using
  Chrome’s built-in Gemini Nano model – nothing is sent over the
  internet.

1. Data the extension stores locally

The extension uses Chrome’s storage APIs (chrome.storage.local /
chrome.storage.sync) to keep the following data inside your own
browser profile:

• Command history: your last 20 typed instructions, the Linux
  commands generated from them, their risk level, and a timestamp.
  This is stored only so you can review, reuse, or delete past
  commands from within the extension. You can delete any entry, or
  all of them, at any time from the extension’s History section.
• Assistant window position: the on-screen coordinates where you
  last placed the assistant window, so it reopens in the same spot.
• AI provider settings: which AI provider you selected (Gemini Nano
  by default, or optionally OpenAI / Gemini cloud API), and, only if
  you choose a cloud provider, the API key you enter for it.

None of this data is transmitted to the developer. It stays in your
browser and, if Chrome Sync is enabled on your device, may sync
across your own devices the same way any other Chrome extension
setting would – this is handled entirely by Google Chrome, not by
the developer.

3. How the AI features work

• Default provider (Gemini Nano): runs entirely on your device via
  Chrome’s built-in Prompt API. Your instructions and the generated
  commands never leave your computer.
• Optional cloud providers (OpenAI or Google Gemini API): only used
  if you explicitly select one in the extension’s Settings page and
  enter your own API key. In that case, your typed instruction and
  the command being explained are sent directly from your browser to
  that provider’s official API, using your own key. The developer of
  this extension has no access to that traffic or its content – it
  is a direct connection between your browser and the AI provider
  you chose.

3. Data read from the web pages you visit

The extension only runs on a specific set of supported SSH console
websites (Google Cloud, AWS, DigitalOcean). On those pages, it looks
for a terminal input element (such as a text field) solely in order
to insert the Linux command you asked it to generate, when you click
“Insert into terminal.” The extension does not read, collect, or
store the contents of the terminal, your files, or any other data
from the page you are visiting.

5. Permissions used

• storage: to save the local data described in section 2.
• clipboardWrite: to copy the generated command to your clipboard
  when you click “Copy,” or automatically as a fallback if a command
  cannot be inserted directly into the terminal.
• scripting: only as a fallback, to load the extension’s interface
  into an SSH console tab that was already open before the extension
  was installed or updated.
• Host permissions (ssh.cloud.google.com, console.cloud.google.com,
  console.aws.amazon.com, cloud.digitalocean.com): to display the
  assistant on those specific SSH consoles.
• Host permissions (api.openai.com, generativelanguage.googleapis.com):
  used only if you choose to enable an optional cloud AI provider, to
  call that provider’s API directly with your own key.

5. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or transfer your data to third parties. The
only data leaving your device is the direct API call to the AI
provider you personally chose and authenticated with your own key,
which is required for that specific feature to work and happens at
your explicit request.

7. Children’s privacy

Linux Command AI is a developer/sysadmin tool and is not directed at
children. It does not knowingly collect data from anyone.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will be
revised. Continued use of the extension after changes means you
accept the updated policy.
